Trauma can be defined as experiencing an overwhelming event. Developmental trauma occurs at a young age with various causes including emotional neglect. Developmental trauma affects how we relate to others as we develop a style of relating for protection rather than connection.

People pleasing also known as fawning is a nervous system response to growing up in an environment that often felt chaotic and unsafe. As a self identified people pleaser, we learn to mask, suppress our needs, walk on egg shells in a hypervigilant state and not be connected to our true selves.

Highly sensitive persons are considered in the neurodivergent realm. Becoming overwhelmed much more than others by outside surroundings with loud noises, smells, and temperatures. Some avoid stimulation and others are sensory seeking. Often empaths who feel deeply.

Neurodivergent is a brain that works differently than neurotypical individuals. These differences often include communicating and or perceiving the environment differently, experiencing learning difficulties, feeling over or under stimulated in conversations or in your environment, feeling different and that you don’t fit in. Some examples include ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Autism, Highly Sensitive Persons.

At the end of the day, I want you to know:

You are enough.

You matter.

You are worthy.

You are loved.
